The best and most appropriate time to visit Prague Castle is immediately after it opens at 9 am.

To avoid a large number of tourists and long security lines, we recommend arriving approximately 15 to 20 minutes before it opens (around 8.40 am).

Since the crowd starts to build up at midday, it is best to begin your tour of the castle grounds early.

If you can’t make it to the Castle by 9 am, the next best time to visit is after 3 pm.

Try to visit Prague Castle during the week, as weekends are generally the busiest.

It is always a good idea to purchase your Prague Castle tickets online in advance and avoid the ticketing lines to enter the attraction without having to wait!

If you visit Prague outside of the summer, expect to encounter some crowds around noon, so arrive at the attraction early.

How long does it take at Prague Castle?

We suggest the visitors to spend from one hour to a full day at Prague Castle. Most travelers require three to four hours.

If you are on a tight schedule or only have one day in Prague, you will most likely stay in the old buildings.

A five-hour tour of the Prague Castle Complex includes historic buildings, cathedrals, exhibitions, and a stroll around the grounds is recommended.

If you are not traveling with children or elders and want to see everything Prague Castle offers in a short amount of time, three hours should be enough.

You will need approximately an hour to visit St. Vitus Cathedral from the exterior, take a quick peep inside, and then walk around the must-see attractions in the region.

On the other hand, if you like to learn everything you can about every location you visit, there are so many buildings and museums to view here that it may need more than one full day.

Note: The entry tickets to Prague Castle have no time limit. Once you are inside, you can spend as much time as you like touring the Castle.
